Jazz Piano
James Taylor

We have just completed publication of Jazz & Improvised Piano by James Taylor who teaches piano at Shrewsbury School. The book is written for people who wish to learn how to improvise and is suitable for anyone with a basic knowledge of music theory and piano/keyboard technique.  The course offers a new angle on the teaching of improvisation skills before introducing jazz theory – taught as a set of processes for finding chords, as opposed to the more conventional selection of chords, riffs and modes to learn and transpose.  There is no conventional music notation in the book since this would bypass the processes being taught.
