Luton, Hilton Garden Inn Hotel

Vinette Hoffman-Jackson will be launching her new book Did the Right Sperm Win?, an anthology of short stories, anecdotes and personal reflections, an inspiring and individual collection, at the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel, Luton, on 14th July, starting at 5.30 pm. All are welcome.

 

Jalon, Valencia

Lauren Staton will talking about the research that formed the basis for her novel, Notes from the Edge, published by YouCaxton, at a book launch 7.00 pm, Thursday June 2nd, at Delanys Cafe Bar, Jalon on the Costa Brava. Her novel is based on the true story of Brighton artist Henry Havelock Cornell, following Lauren’s discovery of notes he wrote before being admitted to a mental asylum. The story starts in Brighton at the turn of the Twentieth Century and moves to prewar London in 1939 and involves, among other things, murder and an exhibition at the Royal Academy..

 

Worcester University

David Waugh, author of  Lottie’s Run, Girls Can’t Pay Football and Jessica’s Other World, all published by YouCaxton, will be providing the keynote lecture at Worcester University on 17th May with a talk on ‘early reading’. Dr Waugh is Senior  Teaching Fellow at Durham University and this is the the title of an academic work that he edited last year.

 An  interview with Ian McKinney, author of Scouse Gothic, on Radio Merseyside is available on I-Player until 17th May. (Sean Styles show/Radio Merseyside 18/4/16, about seven minutes into the show.)

Ian McKinney, author of Scouse Gothic and Scouse Gothic 2, will be talking with Sean Styles of Radio Merseyside next Monday morning, 18th April, about his successful gothic crime series based on Liverpool. 

Aston Birmingham, TEAN Conference

On Thursday 6th May, Dr David Waugh, author of Girls Can’t Play Football, Lottie’s Run and Jessica’s Other World, all produced by YouCaxton, is  running a workshop and giving a presentation at the TEAN Conference at the Aston Centre in Birmingham, on writing with and for children, using his own books as examples. David is Senior Teaching Fellow at Durham University and an expert in Primary English.
